Lyall Bay CityFitness Relocation

CityFitness Lyall Bay is relocating to a brand-new home at:

11 George Bolt Street, Rongotai (Wellington Airport Retail Park)

Bringing CityFitness and Simplicity Fitness Lyall Bay together under one roof.

Our current Lyall Bay club will close at 7.00am on Friday 21 August 2026, and the new club will open at 8.00am on Sunday 23 August 2026.

Members will enjoy a larger, modern gym featuring an expansive fitness floor, which also includes a brand new Multi-Purpose Studio and plenty of free parking. Premium members will also enjoy direct access to Simplicity Fitness Lyall Bay's exclusive 18+ facilities.

Where is the new Lyall Bay club relocating?

Your new CityFitness Lyall Bay will be located at:

11 George Bolt Street, Rongotai (Wellington Airport Retail Park).

 

Do I need to do anything?

No. Your membership will automatically transfer to the new Lyall Bay club when it opens, so there's nothing you need to do.

 

What happens between Friday 21 August and Sunday 23 August while the club is closed?

The current Lyall Bay club will be closed for two days while we complete the move.

During the closure, you can still keep up your training.

  • Basic members can acces the following nearby CityFitness clubs while your HOME club is unavailable : Petone, Thorndon, Newlands and Willis Street.
  • Black Card and Premium members will continue to enjoy access to all CityFitness clubs nationwide as part of their membership.

 

I'm on a Basic membership. Can I use other clubs during the closure?

Yes. Although Basic memberships are normally limited to your home club, Lyall Bay Basic members will have complimentary access to our Petone, Thorndon, Newlands and Willis Street clubs during the relocation.

 

What does the closure mean for Simplicity members?

Simplicity Lyall Bay will be business as usual for Premium members.

 

What's new at the new Lyall Bay club?

When the new club opens, all members will enjoy:

  • A modern gym with an expansive fitness floor
  • Plenty of free parking

Black Card members will enjoy a brand new Multipurpose Studio for group fitness classes and functional training.

Premium members who are 18+ will also enjoy direct access to Simplicity Fitness featuring:

  • Infrared Sauna
  • On-Demand Reformer Pilates
  • Deluxe Recovery Room

 

Will Yoga and Mat Pilates continue at Lyall Bay?

Yes. Yoga and Mat Pilates classes will continue to be available at Lyall Bay as a Premium Member benefit.

 

Will classes still be on at the same time and with the same instructors?

Members can view the current timetable on the CityFitness website and app. Any future timetable updates will be communicated through our usual channels.

 

Will classes still be held in the Abundance studio?

No. The dedicated Abundance studio will no longer operate, and Yoga and Mat Pilates classes will move into the club's functional training space.

 

Will the experience be the same as it is today?

No. The functional training space is a different environment from a dedicated yoga studio. It is turf-based, is not heated, and is located within the main club environment. While the classes will continue, members should expect a different experience from the current Abundance studio.

 

Will classes still require a booking?

Yes. Yoga and Mat Pilates will continue to operate as a premium offering, and bookings will still be required. See the Lyall Bay abundance schedule HERE.

 

Will my membership or home club change?

No. Your membership will automatically transfer to the new Lyall Bay club when it opens on Sunday 23 August 2026. Your membership type, club access and billing will remain unchanged.
