Youth Induction Programme
The Youth Induction Programme will give new members aged 14 and 15 the knowledge and confidence to train safely and respectfully in our facilities. Launching on October 1, the compulsory induction will provide practical education on the use of the facility to include proper use of equipment, general exercise technique, safe training practices, and gym etiquette to support a positive experience for all members.
What topics are covered?
The induction sessions will provide practical education on the use of the facility to include proper use of equipment, general exercise technique and safe training practices. The programme will also cover the standards of behaviour expected within CityFitness clubs, including respectful use of equipment, re-racking weights, cleaning equipment after use, responsible phone use, allowing other members to work in during sets and avoiding disruptive behaviour.
Will my child receive an exercise program to follow?
No. This is a general induction on proper use of the facility and general safe exercise protocols. 14 – 15 year olds are expected to have an exercise program to follow when joining and will need a documented exercise program signed off by a parent or guardian that is validated by a member of staff prior to signing the Induction Agreement. Those requiring an exercise program may make a separate appointment with a personal trainer at an extra cost.
Do I need to complete the Youth Induction Programme before joining?
Yes. All new members aged 14 and 15 will need to complete the Youth Induction Programme before they can sign up for a membership. Successful completion requires that youth fully attend the induction and complete a post induction assessment to ensure they understand and acknowledge the points covered. They will also need to have a documented exercise program to follow signed off by a parent or guardian that is validated by staff prior signing the Induction Agreement.
Does this apply to existing members aged 14 and 15?
No. This programme will be for new members moving forward. However, our team will be actively reinforcing gym etiquette and club expectations for all members as we continue to grow.
When will this come into effect?
The Youth Induction Programme will begin from October 1, 2026.
How do I sign up to an induction session?
A parent or guardian will need to visit their nearest CityFitness reception to book the induction session. The team will confirm available dates and times, and the parent or guardian will need to complete the required agreement and pay the $30 induction fee to secure the booking. The parent or guardian will also need to show CityFitness staff the exercise programme that the member intends to complete. If they do not have an exercise programme, a consultation with a Personal Trainer, at a discounted introductory rate of $30, can be completed prior to the Induction Agreement being signed.
Once the induction has been completed, the parent or guardian will need to accompany the youth member to reception to finalise their membership.
How will the induction programme work?
The programme will consist of small group induction sessions held twice per month. A $30 fee applies, and new members aged 14 and 15 must complete the induction before they can become a member.
Will a parent or guardian need to attend?
Parents or guardians are not required to attend the induction, but they will need to acknowledge the key safety guidelines, gym expectations, and training standards covered as part of the programme before their child’s membership is activated.
What happens if a young member does not meet the expected standards?
The induction programme helps set clear expectations around safe and respectful gym use. If these expectations are not met after completing the programme, CityFitness may take further action, which could include cancellation of the membership
